Complicațiile diabetului

Numeroase studii medicale recente indică faptul că oxigenoterapia hiperbară (HBOT) este un tratament adjuvant foarte eficient pentru diversele complicații ale diabetului, cum ar fi ulcerul piciorului diabetic, neuropatia diabetică, retinopatia diabetică și microangiopatia diabetică.

Terapia este recomandată oficial și de către FDA și UHMS pentru tratamentul ulcerului piciorului diabetic, deoarece accelerează procesul de vindecare, reduce semnificativ riscul de amputare și îmbunătățește calitatea vieții pacientului.

De asemenea, un studiu organizat de Centrul Național de Boli Cronice din Portugalia (CEDOC), arată că HBOT poate ameliora toleranța la glucoză la pacienții diabetici și sugerează că HBOT ar putea fi utilizată și ca intervenție terapeutică pentru diabetul de tip 2.
