Necroza osoasă aseptică
Numeroase studii recente arată că oxigenoterapia hiperbară (HBOT) poate fi utilizată cu succes pentru a trata necroza aseptică de cap femural, mai ales în stadiile incipiente, evitând procedurile complexe precum înlocuirea articulației de șold. Aceasta stimulează creșterea de noi vase sanguine, care pot furniza oxigen și nutrienții necesari pentru regenerarea țesutului osos. De asemenea, poate ajuta la reducerea durerii și la prevenirea infecției.
HBOT este tot mai des recomandată de medicii ortopezi pentru a opri avansarea necrozei osoase avasculare și pentru a preveni instalarea coxartrozei (artroza șoldului).
