Pacienți post-AVC
Multiple studii recente susțin efectele benefice ale terapiei hiperbarice asupra leziunilor cerebrale. În cazul pacienților post-AVC, îmbunătățirea neurologică se manifestă atât sub aspect cognitiv, cât și sub aspect motor. Terapia hiperbarică rămâne eficientă chiar și în stadiile cronice târzii.
Valabilitatea mecanismelor reparatorii declanșate de terapia hiperbarică presupune totodată posibilitatea reactivării neuroplasticității după un interval lung de timp de la debutul leziunii cerebrale. Se poate în acest fel reface corespondența între anatomia cerebrală și fiziologia aferentă.
