Chronische Infektionen
Zahlreiche Studien unterstreichen die Bedeutung der hyperbaren Therapie bei der Behandlung chronischer Infektionen, insbesondere bei Infektionen, die auf herkömmliche Therapien nur begrenzt ansprechen. Einige der häufigsten chronischen Infektionen, die mit einer hyperbaren Therapie behandelt werden können, sind: Osteomyelitis, Osteitis, Spondylodiszitis, Weichteilinfektionen (offene Wunden oder Verbrennungen), Innenohrinfektionen, Lungeninfektionen, Hautinfektionen (Abszesse oder Geschwüre), Borreliose.
Die hyperbare Sauerstofftherapie kann durch direkte bakteriostatische oder bakterizide Wirkungen, durch Verstärkung der antimikrobiellen Wirkungen des Immunsystems und durch additive oder synergistische Wirkungen mit bestimmten antimikrobiellen Wirkstoffen zur Heilung von Infektionen beitragen.
