Adjuvante Tumorbehandlung
Forschungsergebnisse deuten darauf hin, dass die Anwendung der hyperbaren Therapie (HBO) in Kombination mit Strahlen- oder Chemotherapie signifikante Ergebnisse bei der Verringerung der Sterblichkeit und möglicher Rezidive erzielen kann. HBO kann auf verschiedene Weise bei der Behandlung von Krebs helfen, z. B. durch Verbesserung des Blutflusses zum Tumor, Verlangsamung des Wachstums von Krebszellen (insbesondere von hypoxischen Krebszellen, denen Sauerstoff entzogen wird) und Erhöhung der Wirksamkeit von Standardtherapien.
HBO kann auch dazu beitragen, die Nebenwirkungen der Krebstherapie wie Übelkeit, Erbrechen und Müdigkeit zu verringern.
