Számos nemrég megjelent tanulmány támasztja alá a hiperbár-terápia jótékony hatásait az agykárosodásokra. Az agyvérzésen átesett betegek esetében a neurológiai javulás kognitív és motoros szempontból egyaránt megfigyelhető. A hiperbár-terápia kései krónikus stádiumokban is hatékony.
A hiperbár-terápia által aktivált gyógyítómechanizmusok lehetővé tehetik továbbá a neuroplaszticitás reaktiválását az agykárosodás kezdetétől eltelt hosszú idő után. Ily módon helyre lehet állítani az agy anatómiája és a hozzá tartozó fiziológia közötti kapcsolatot.
